It was a RockStar of a 7th Birthday bash!

We go directly from Christmas to my daughter's birthday here.  Here are some cute ideas for an easy rock star decor.  Some printables & streamers go a long way!

1.  My kids love a photo display.  I grab all their pictures and put them on a shelf or cabinet.   We love to look back.

2.   Streamers can do it all.  They are cheap and easy.  Check out our rock star lounge lighting.
3.   A great cake display makes the party special!  ps.  It helps to have a cute kid...

New Year New Commitment.....from a Blog Slacker

It's a new year, it's time for a new commitment to this blog.
I am officially a blog slacker....a blacker or I prefer slogger.....
I will kick off this new year by committing to blog at least once a week...(frankly unless something huge happens I might not be that interesting).
I will get back in shape...I've rounded out 6 lbs heavier from holiday activities.  Most of which included large amounts of food, wine, and cookies.
I will do something with our master bedroom.
I will finish the kitchen in my new house.

But let's kick off the new year with a laugh.  Check out this story about picking your battles:

Be Thankful & Teach Thankful

Our Thankful Tree
This Thanksgiving I learned I have to do a better job of teaching "being Thankful."  When I first asked my  kids what they are thankful for they said their birthdays and toys.  I realized that although they are little, I have done a terrible job of teaching them to be thankful.  They need to learn more than just saying please & thank you.   I need to take more time out to teach them to be thankful for what they have....their family, friends, dog, and their needs met.   Although, we are constantly taking up a collections for every charity they haven't equated to themselves.   I'm working on teaching them  to be thankful for what they have and to realize they have more than most.

Sometimes Children Look Cuter in the Pictures

The Two Trouble Makers
Yesterday, it poured....not rained,  poured.   I had to put my Caden & Morgan in a wagon,  with umbrellas to walk up to school to pick up my oldest from school.  This picture was snapped as I loaded them in.  How precious!  Within moments of this photo, all hell broke loose.  There was fighting, yelling, biting, who's hitting who with the umbrella.   Each one telling me that the other one is mean, that they don't like each other.  All the things mothers don't talk about going down in one green wagon.    Not to mention, as the wagon puller,  my arm was soaked.  I was yelling to stop fighting, biting, and everything else.   I was dreaming of a glass of wine.  It was a huge mess.
However, I realized that years from now,  they will love this picture of them in the wagon.  They won't remember what a huge mess this was, the fighting, the biting, the screaming ... and hopefully neither will I.

Sometimes a Desk is More than a Desk.....

I recently redid a desk and chair I brought at a garage sale for $30 by painting it shiny black and adding new knobs.   When my friends would call I was always working on it, so I decided to put it on Facebook to show them.  I got such great response I decided to start blogging my crafty little endeavors.   I'm always working on something for our new house.  Trying to crave out time from my life with my 3 children to work on some project.

Right now the kitchen is sort of driving me crazy....There are little things in this updated kitchen that still make it look like Grandma's house ie. the wavy gravy thing above the window from 1970 or the handles that resemble an old woman's earrings.  This is my current focus.  The kitchen is also the same shade of Greige the rest of the house is.  Although, it works in many rooms.  I find it a downer in the kitchen.  I want the kitchen to be a warm yellow, a buttercream color. A color that is yummy and relaxing, not like clay.
There are things I 3 guarantee about this blog:
1. I'm a lousy proof reader...errors are guaranteed.
2. If you think I'm joking, I am.
3.   You must realize that this is being squeeze in between naps and after bedtime....again allow room for error.
